Happy Earth Day!

The earth has provided us with beautiful plants that keep growing throughout the years. My jasmine bush cutting is thriving in this little bottle and the roots are taking over. I have enjoyed watching it grow for the past six months and may have to break the bottle to rescue and plant it in the ground. Well, at least I have more bottles to start a new one. (And maybe I can take the broken glass and put it into a rock tumbler to recycle for a future craft project.)

Repaint old pottery!

After

Before
Wayyyyyyy long ago, I made this in college. It started looking ancient and I was just about to kick it to the curb for someone else to pick up or pass up. I got out my red spray paint and gave it one good coat. After it dried, I brushed on water-downed black latex paint and quickly wiped it off with a wet rag. Looks better, I guess it's a keeper for now!

Trash to treasure, "My pot of gold that is green!"

After
Before

This was on the curb ready for trash pickup at a neighbor's house. It actually looked a lot worse than the picture. I cleaned it with a wire brush and scrubbed a lot of dirt off. Then I spray painted the pot with Rust-oleum Painters Touch Ultra Cover in Satin eden, which bonds well to plastics.

Table trash to this...

My husband found this table by the curb as he was driving by in the neighborhood and brought it home. This piece looked like the 70's table that you would place a round table cloth on top and used it for a side table. I did not want this inside my house and decided to put it on my patio, so I spray painted it...I also spray painted the old plastic pot on top that I had for many years and was the mauve color that was popular then (not anymore..for me at least!) The bottom pot was an old clay pot that I painted with craft paint.

Just something to give my patio some color!

Another "upcycled" project!

It is so nice to have freshly picked figs for breakfast which are full of fiber. My tree is producing a nice crop this summer.......Soon I will be making my fig preserves! (click here to see my recipe for making Fig Preserves)

Look what popped up in my flower pot and I didn't even plant it!

Gardening

This is amazing and the only thing that I can figure out is that the wind blew or a bird dropped a sunflower seed from the bird feeder into the pot.

Sounds logical!  And it is pretty too!
